About Our Miniature Railroad
One of the most popular attractions at the Steam Railroading Institute is the 7 ½ Gauge Miniature Railroad. Beginning operations in 2009, our little trains are 1/8 scale and operates at 7 ½ gauge-or 7 ¼ inches-between the rails. Guest of all ages enjoy this ride of nearly ¼ of a mile of track that parallels the Shiawassee River Trail on the SRI grounds.

Visiting Equipment
The Steam Railroading Institute is open to private owners bringing their own 7 ½ gauge equipment to operate on the railroad.
