Covid-19 Safety Procedures

The Steam Railroading Institute is following all CDC and State of Michigan guidelines regarding Covid-19. To ensure the health and safety of our staff, volunteers and visitors alike, we ask that everyone adhere to the current Covid-19 guidelines while on the SRI grounds.

Visits and Tours

All tours at the Steam Railroading Institute are guided tours. To ensure the safety of visitors, volunteers and staff, we ask that masks be worn at all times during your visit.

You will be given a tour of the Institute with the group you arrive with. If there should be more than one tour happening at a time, we ask that tour groups remain socially distanced from each other.

Hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the museum grounds. Indoor areas such as the gift shop and bathrooms are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized throughout the day.

Since only one tour guide can accommodate one group of visitors at a time, it is recommended that you contact us via our website or call ahead to schedule your tour to ensure there are no groups waiting in front of you.

If you have had any Covid-19 symptoms in the past 14 days, please refrain from visiting the Steam Railroading Institute until you are no longer experiencing any of the symptoms listed:

  • FEVER OR CHILLS
  • COUGH
  • SHORTNESS OF BREATH OR DIFFICULTY BREATHING
